Technology is both a blessing and a curse. It can enhance learning to the fullest, yet it can also create some major roadblocks. In order to ensure that technology enhances learning, some safeguards must be put in place. The best method to ensure that technology is integrated successfully, is to use the train the trainer model. With this type of method, an expert on the technology trains a person from each school. That trained person then goes back into their respective schools and trains the entire staff. With this model, there will still be times when struggles arise with technology use during the integration process, however, having a "trainer" in each school allows for a point of contact to available at all times to troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
Another method that is good to ensure technology integration is accountability. Accountability comes in the form of evaluations. The administrators in the building should hold the teachers accountable for integration of technology and when it is not being used successfully, the principal should have conversations post observation with the instructors to figure out why it's not being implemented. This can also lead to the creation of professional development opportunities which assist the teachers in the integration of technology.
